FAQ
Everything buyers ask us before they start.
Thirty-four questions, grouped the way a project actually unfolds. If yours isn't here, ask us and we'll answer within two business days.
01
Getting started
I only have an idea. Can I still start?
Yes. Most of our best projects start as a sentence and a few reference products. We run a short discovery call, write the development brief with you, and come back with a realistic first line, budget band and timeline before you commit to anything.
What do you need from me to quote?
Product type and target texture, target market(s), rough quantity per SKU, target retail price, launch date, and any certifications you need (organic, vegan, Halal, etc.). Reference products or a mood board help enormously. We send a short intake form after the first reply.
Can you make exactly what I want, or only what your factories already make?
Both. We are not tied to one house, so if a texture, active or format exists in K-beauty, we can find the CGMP factory that does it best. Fully custom formulas are developed with that factory's R&D lab to your brief.
Can I start with samples before committing to a project?
Yes. Tell us the category and the feel you want and we'll send a curated set of ready-to-brand lab samples so you can evaluate texture, scent and performance in hand before deciding between ready-to-brand and custom development.
Do you work with first-time founders and small brands?
Yes, and we like it. We'll help you choose a realistic first line, avoid the expensive mistakes first launches usually make, and match you to factories whose MOQs fit your volume rather than forcing you up.
02
Formula & samples
Ready-to-brand or custom formula: what's the difference?
Ready-to-brand (private label) uses a proven factory base formula with your branding, which is the fastest and cheapest route to launch. Custom development builds an exclusive formula to your brief with your claims, actives and texture, which takes longer and costs more but is yours. Many brands start ready-to-brand and go custom on their hero product.
How many sample rounds do I get?
Typically two to three rounds for a custom formula, agreed with you before sampling starts. You receive each round with a structured feedback form so revisions are precise, and extra rounds are discussed before they begin.
How long does sampling take?
Ready-to-brand samples ship within days. Custom first samples usually take 2 to 4 weeks, with each revision round 1 to 3 weeks depending on complexity and stability checks.
Can you develop organic, vegan, fragrance-free or baby-safe formulas?
Yes. These are our specialties. We decide the target standard first (COSMOS, ECOCERT, USDA, Vegan Society, EWG-grade, infant-safe) so every raw material is chosen against its allowed list, then select a factory already audited for that type of production.
Can you match or improve on a competitor's product?
We can benchmark a reference product for texture, sensorial profile and performance and develop toward it. We do not copy proprietary formulas; we develop an original formula that meets or beats the benchmark on the attributes you care about.
03
Manufacturing & MOQ
What is the minimum order quantity?
It depends on the product and the factory. Most products start from around 2,000 to 3,000 units per SKU with stock packaging; fully custom formulas and custom components can require more. We'll give you the realistic MOQ for your product in the first quote and match you to factories that fit your volume.
Which factory will make my product?
The one that is best at your product type and certification needs. We shortlist CGMP / ISO 22716 manufacturers that fit your formula, volume and market, and tell you who we recommend and why. You can visit the factory with us if you travel to Korea.
How do you control quality?
Our staff is on the line at pilot and bulk stages, inspecting bulk, fill, seal, labelling and packing, with photo and video reports to you. Every batch comes with batch records and a certificate of analysis, and a pre-shipment inspection closes production.
How long does a first production run take?
After sample sign-off, a typical first run with stock packaging takes 6 to 8 weeks including raw-material lead time, pilot batch, bulk production, filling and assembly. Custom components add tooling time, which we map out before you commit.
Can you handle reorders and multiple SKUs?
Yes. We manage reorder scheduling, stock forecasting and multi-SKU production across different factories, consolidating everything into one shipment.
04
Packaging & components
There are hundreds of container suppliers in Korea. How do you choose?
That is exactly what we are for. We maintain relationships with first-tier bottle, tube, pump, airless and carton makers, know who is strong in which format and finish, and handle sourcing, sampling, compatibility testing and negotiation so you deal with one contact instead of dozens of vendors.
Stock or custom packaging?
Stock components are fastest and have the lowest MOQs; we can decorate them with silk screen, hot stamping, labels and coatings to look fully branded. Custom molds give true differentiation but add tooling cost and 8 to 14 weeks. We'll recommend based on your volume and timeline.
Can you do unit cartons, gift sets, sachets and GWP?
Yes. Unit cartons, inserts, gift sets, promotional sachets for sampling campaigns and gift-with-purchase items are all handled with the same packaging partners and assembled at the factory.
Do you test the formula in the container?
Always. Formula-container compatibility and transport testing are done before bulk production so a mild or active-rich formula doesn't react with the packaging after you've ordered it.
05
Certification & compliance
Can you handle registration in my country?
Yes. We coordinate the testing and documentation for MFDS (Korea), US FDA MoCRA listing and OTC, EU CPNP and UK SCPN notification (including the CPSR), Japan cosmetic notification, Halal, and organic or vegan certifications, working with accredited labs and responsible-person services in your market.
Which certifications have you actually obtained?
We have completed COSMOS Organic, Vegan Society registration, CertClean, Dermatest dermatological testing, clinical efficacy trials, and EU, UK and Japan notifications end to end, and we coordinate EWG Verified, Halal, US FDA MoCRA listings and UL WERCSmart retailer registration for client brands. We know the pitfalls before you hit them.
What tests are required before I can sell?
At minimum: stability, preservative challenge, microbiology and a safety assessment. Depending on claims and market: human patch test, dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, SPF testing, and clinical efficacy studies. We plan the testing from the formula stage so nothing has to be reformulated at registration.
Can I make clinical claims like "improves skin barrier"?
Only with evidence. We design the clinical protocol around the exact claim you want to print, run it with an accredited institute, and review the final wording against your market's advertising rules so marketing and evidence agree.
06
Pricing & payment
How do you charge?
No separate development fee. You get one production unit price per SKU that covers formulation, sampling, components, filling, testing coordination and our project management. Logistics is quoted to your destination. Repeat orders are quoted the same way, and there are no surprise line items after you commit.
Why go through you instead of directly to a factory?
Because we buy from the same suppliers for many projects, we get pricing and MOQs a single brand rarely gets alone, we know which factory fits which product, and we take responsibility across formula, packaging, testing and shipping so nothing falls between vendors.
What are the payment terms?
Payment milestones are set out in your quote before work begins and are tied to the production order and shipment, not to development. We'll confirm the exact schedule and currency with your quote.
What does a first SKU cost?
Your cost is the production unit price times your order quantity, plus logistics. There is no separate development fee. The unit price depends on formula complexity, packaging and testing, so we'll give you a realistic band after a 30-minute call rather than publish a number that misleads you. Ready-to-brand with stock packaging is the lowest-cost route.
07
Logistics & shipping
Can you store my stock in Korea and ship as I need it?
Yes. We hold finished goods in bonded or domestic warehouses, consolidate across SKUs and factories, and release call-off shipments to your warehouse, 3PL or marketplace as you need them.
How do goods get to me?
Air, sea or express, your choice. We prepare export documentation, certificates of origin and MSDS, arrange freight with our forwarders, and can prepare FBA-ready labelling and packing for Amazon.
Who handles customs and import requirements in my country?
We prepare the Korean export side and the documentation your importer or customs broker needs. We work with your broker or recommend one in your market, and we make sure the product registration is in place before goods land.
08
IP, confidentiality & working together
Who owns the formula?
For custom development, ownership terms are agreed in writing before work begins and can be assigned to your brand. For ready-to-brand formulas, the manufacturer retains the base formula and you hold exclusive rights to your branded product. We never resell your custom work.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, before we see your brief if you prefer. Tick the NDA box on the inquiry form and we'll send ours, or sign yours.
How do we communicate across time zones?
You get a named project manager in Seoul who runs everything with factories in Korean and reports to you in English on your schedule. A written weekly status (done, next, risks, costs) plus calls booked in your working hours.
What happens if something goes wrong?
We are accountable for the project, not just the introduction. If a batch fails inspection, a component is late or a test needs repeating, we manage the fix with the supplier and tell you immediately with options and revised dates.
